Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee

Purpose
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to advise the two medical schools on the implementation and evaluation of the Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute.

Role
The Committee helps to assure that Leadership Institute programs remain coordinated and responsive to the needs of the state's broadly defined public health system workforce. Advisory Committee members also keep their own organizations and communities informed of Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute programs.

Structure
Subcommittees are established as needed to focus on specific program-related activities and report to the Advisory Committee. Advisory Committee advice and recommendations are shared by Leadership Institute program faculty and staff with the respective oversight boards of the two medical schools.

Membership
The Committee is composed of 15 - 20 members who represent many segments of the Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute's target audience and share an interest in community and public health. Members are leaders within their communities, professional disciplines and areas of expertise and they bring unique perspectives to the work of the Committee.

Meetings
The Committee meets for approximately three hours on a quarterly basis at alternating locations between Madison and the Milwaukee area. Meeting dates are set at least one year in advance. Attendance by telephone is an option for members who are unable to attend in person and travel cost reimbursement is provided upon request. Meeting schedules and minutes are posted on the Leadership Institute web site.

Terms and Expectations
When new members join the committee, they are assigned to terms of two years. A member who misses three meetings in a year may be excused from the Committee and a new member added to fill the vacancy created.

Subcommittees
Each Subcommittee includes at least one Advisory Committee member, who serves as a liaison to the Advisory Committee sharing plans, recommendations and feedback.
